The 6G-VERSUS Learning Platform collects personal data to create and manage user accounts, provide access to online courses, support learning activities, ensure platform security, and produce aggregated statistics for European project reporting.
The platform collects account data, course participation data, technical logs, and additional profile information such as gender, participant type, study level, primary area of expertise, and country of residence. These additional profile fields are used only for aggregated statistical and reporting purposes.

1. Purpose of this Privacy Notice
This Privacy Notice explains how personal data are collected and processed when users register for and use the 6G-VERSUS Learning Platform.
The 6G-VERSUS project is funded by the Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU) under the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme, Grant Agreement No. 101192633.
This platform is used to provide online training activities related to 5G/6G technologies and to collect aggregated statistical information for project monitoring and reporting purposes.

3. Personal data we collect
When you create an account and use the platform, we may collect and process the following categories of personal data:
a) Account registration data:
- username;
- first name and last name;
- email address;
- password, stored securely by the platform;
- city/town;
- country;
- account creation and confirmation status.
b) Additional profile information for project statistics:
- gender;
- participant type, such as student, academic/researcher, industry professional, policymaker/regulator or other;
- study level;
- primary area of expertise;
- country of residence;
- other profile fields that may be displayed in the registration form.
These fields are used for aggregated statistical analysis and European project reporting. Where a field relates to personal characteristics, options such as “Prefer not to say” may be provided.
c) Course participation data:
- course enrolments;
- course progress;
- activity completion;
- quiz or assessment attempts, where applicable;
- grades or completion records, where applicable;
- certificates or badges, where applicable;
- forum posts, messages or other learning interactions, where applicable.
d) Technical and security data:
- login records;
- IP address;
- browser and device information;
- activity logs;
- timestamps of access and actions performed on the platform;
- security-related events.
e) Communications:
- emails sent by the platform, such as account confirmation, password reset, course notifications and support communications.
4. Purposes of processing
Your personal data are processed for the following purposes:
- to create and manage your user account;
- to verify your email address and authenticate access to the platform;
- to provide access to available online courses;
- to manage course enrolment, participation, progress and completion;
- to provide technical and learner support;
- to protect the platform against spam, misuse, unauthorised access and security incidents;
- to generate aggregated statistics on learner profiles, participation and course uptake;
- to support reporting, monitoring and impact assessment activities of the 6G-VERSUS European project;
- to comply with applicable legal, institutional, contractual and audit obligations.
5. Legal basis for processing
The legal basis for processing personal data may include, as applicable:
- the provision of the learning platform service requested by the user;
- the legitimate interest of operating, securing and improving the learning platform;
- compliance with legal, contractual, institutional or project reporting obligations;
- consent or acknowledgement where required for specific processing activities.
6. Use of aggregated data for project reporting
Profile and participation data may be used to produce aggregated statistics, such as the number of participants by country, participant type, area of expertise, study level or gender.
Aggregated statistics do not identify individual users. Individual-level personal data will not be published in project reports, public datasets or dissemination materials.
Where research or reporting outputs are produced from platform data, they will be prepared in aggregated or anonymised form whenever possible.
7. Data sharing and recipients
Access to personal data is limited to authorised persons who need it for the purposes described in this Privacy Notice.
Personal data may be accessed by:
- authorised platform administrators;
- authorised course teachers or trainers;
- authorised members of the 6G-VERSUS consortium involved in training, reporting, technical support or project management;
- technical service providers supporting the Moodle platform, hosting, maintenance or email delivery;
- public authorities, auditors or legal bodies where required by law, grant agreement or institutional obligation.
Personal data will not be sold or used for commercial advertising.
8. Third-party services
The platform may use third-party services necessary for operation, security or communication. For example, Google reCAPTCHA may be used on the registration form to prevent spam and automated account creation.
Where third-party services are used, they may process limited technical data according to their own privacy terms. The project will seek to use such services only where necessary for platform operation and security.
9. Data security
Appropriate technical and organisational measures are applied to protect personal data against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, loss or destruction.
These measures may include:
- restricted access for authorised users only;
- secure hosting and server management;
- password-protected user accounts;
- regular backups;
- secure storage;
- encryption where appropriate;
- monitoring of security events and platform logs.
10. Data retention
Personal data will be kept only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this Privacy Notice, including course delivery, project reporting, audit, legal, contractual or institutional requirements.
After the applicable retention period, personal data will be deleted, anonymised or securely archived according to the applicable project and institutional procedures.

11. Your rights
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you may have the right to:
- access your personal data;
- request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data;

- withdraw consent, where processing is based on consent;
- lodge a complaint with a competent data protection authority.

12. Withdrawal and account deletion
You may stop using the platform at any time.
You may request deletion or anonymisation of your account data, subject to any legal, contractual, audit, project reporting or institutional retention obligations that may apply.
Course completion records, certificates, audit logs or aggregated statistical records may need to be retained where required for legitimate project, institutional or legal purposes.
13. Changes to this Privacy Notice
This Privacy Notice may be updated during the project. If substantial changes are made, users may be asked to review and accept the updated version before continuing to use the platform.

By continuing to use the 6G-VERSUS Learning Platform, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Notice.
